I can’t find a bigger version of this. I really need a bigger version.
This is a 98 and mine is a 99 but it’s basically the same. Any version of your car. What’s your favorite ad.

I don’t know, but I’m seeing more evidence in that ad for the Roadmaster being the best truck.

One of my cars sure has some interesting ads. This is just one:

A Lotus is *not* the poster child for a heavy object to be towed, Toyota. You dumbfucks.

A Buick Roadmaster?
![]() 08/24/2016 at 11:22 |

Yeah. Put a Supra on the back and then I’ll be impressed.

Yup. Tows 7500 lbs.

Close enough (Mine’s a ‘95)

lolwat. that’s epic.

Not sure how they came up with that.
4 speed auto, 140 HP land-barge with hydropneumatic suspension sounds very french to me.

I tried to find one for the Audi too, but they’re all pretty lame.
![]() 08/24/2016 at 11:28 |

Yup. While seating 8. Or fitting a 4X8 piece of plywood inside with the hatch closed.

No question this is the ad that did it for me. I bought my Corvette to drive bikini’d women to the beach and rip the roads on the way home.

Wrong gen. but right colour!
![]() 08/24/2016 at 11:37 |

Not really. The styling is very conservative-German and for the first time the hydropneumatic suspension became optional. Most didn’t come with the 4 speed auto and Germans offer 140 hp engines in vehicles this size as well. In Europe that is.

They have Senna in them.

I was curious, so I did some looking. If that is a Lotus 20, which it looks like some variety of, it weighs 880lb. That is less than the tongue weight rating of a class IV hitch. You could put it on a carrier on a full size truck, in theory - not even using a trailer. It could be towed on a suitable trailer by a
Miata.

This ad highlights the little things that make a RWD V8 Fox-based Celica a Mustang. But it was actually a really big deal in the 90's, because those iconic details had been absent from the Mustang for so long. The return of tri-bar taillamps, side scoops, and a proper pony in the grille was truly glorious.

In 68 Chevy really pushed the similarities between the Camaro and Corvette.

Honda made some great print ads for the 450 I own.
I’m not so sure about the 120 mph claim. This bike came out in 1965.
I like these French Jeep ads:
I love the GMC ads trying to convince people to pony up the extra $49 for the GMC.
Many people have gone a whole 150k miles without having to rebuild the engine!

I like this one, only because the previous owner of my Vette had it painted to match the special edition ZHZ.
And unlike the real ZHZ’s, mine has a manual transmission, and
doesn’t
have gaudy chrome wheels!
![]() 08/24/2016 at 12:37 |

12 times out of 10 would probably be the take rate for most people based solely on how expensive running 2002s have become.
I can guarantee you that in 30 years no one is going to be praising their cars as being the next Sentra anything.

Except that you take a ton of stuff with you to the track for a weekend, especially with a formula car. Add in 300-500 lbs for even the smallest of single axle trailers, or say 1000-1800lbs for a double axle like the one pictured, at least 10-15 gallons of additional fuel in 5 gallon jugs , at least two additional sets of tires, formula car jack and stand, tool box, spare parts and fluids box, helmet/shoes/gloves/driving suit bag, a few days of regular luggage, ice chest/stuff to eat during the day, canopy for shade in the pits, chairs to sit on in the pits, the wagon that holds your air tank and starting battery... and it starts to add up. With a formula car, you usually also have to add in the associated stuff for a helper for the weekend. While it isn’t impossible to race a formula car by yourself for a weekend, it is a whole lot more difficult. Almost everyone I know in the formula car run groups brings a friend or family member explicitly to serve as their crew.

Yeah... If I still had my Jeep!
![]() 08/24/2016 at 14:12 |

While all this is true, the car itself is very light and a
Lotus
, so the opportunity afforded for a cheap shot was too good to miss. 5000lb for a formula junior and all associated, even if you assume all on the trailer, still *looks* like overshooting spectacularly unless it’s a full box. Then again, this is Toyota of the 4200lb curb weight for the “station wagon” series 70 LC - probably used to everything being made of lead.

Subaru’s advertising game has always been on point.
This is probably my favorite print ad, though it’s not for /my/ Outback, it ran while mine was still in production.
This is my favorite advertisement for my generation. You didn’t specify that it had to be a print ad.
And a classic to boot.
